hello hello i am going to mexico city for like five or six days and i am so excited i feel like i've been hearing so much about mexico city as just an incredible place to visit with like great art and culture and food and things to do it's been on the top of my travel bucket list for quite some time the reason why i'm now pulling the trigger and going on this trip is um my friend cheryl is having her wedding there she lives here in new york but her and her fiance are getting married to mexico city because she's venezuelan and it just made sense with like her family traveling and friends from new york and a lot of her friends are from latin america so a few of my friends here in new york were also invited to go to the wedding so that should be really fun and i'm just a fan of like mexican food mexican culture so i'm so excited to go i feel like growing up in southern california i had quite a few friends who were mexican or just kind of surrounded by mexican culture quite a bit and it's just such like a warm hospitable family-oriented just like loving culture from what i experienced at least so i'm very excited to get to go to this region of the world it's also going to be so warm which will be so lovely and i have so many recommendations from friends so i'm going to be checking out a lot of like restaurants bars museums dance spots hitting the town so i will be sure to include all those recommendations in case you go to mexico city i'm gonna get started packing and then i gotta hit the airport before i go i figured i'd show you guys my jewelry setup and what i'm gonna be these are the group huggy earrings which i am obsessed with these are the dia medium hoop earrings also i am so obsessed with their ring sets i have been wearing daia ring set like basically every day either fully stacked all together or i will like sprinkle them throughout my hands i just love the look of a lot of gold jewelry scattered out especially when i'm traveling and i can't necessarily pack a lot of like super crazy or unique pieces just because space is limited when i'm traveling somewhere for a while my favorite way to dress up a fit is literally just putting on a ton of jewelry and these are some of my favorites i also have to show you guys this cuff the siren use thin cuff she is so gorgeous if you're loving these pieces as much as i am everything will be down in the description so on that note i need to probably go finish packing now so i can make my flight in time so i'm so excited let's go ahead to mexico city good morning from mexico city i've been wanting to come to mexico city for years and i can't believe i'm finally here i'm so excited to be here i'm primarily here for a friend's wedding which is this weekend and decided to come a few days early to get to explore mexico city for myself i'm staying in roma norte area and i'm currently staying with ashley she's working today and then two of our other friends nick and peter are flying out in a couple days so i think i'll be doing a lot of solo exploring for the next few days coming to you from cafe hello just made it to the national anthropology museum it has this incredible water structure in the back it was like 85 pesos so roughly about four us dollars i'm excited to check it out i was looking at podcasts earlier on history in mexico city and i found this really great one on npr about the history of tenochtitlan a retelling of the conquest so mexico city used to be where the aztec empire capital was and so it's really interesting hearing back about the history and then the spanish you know conquest and colonization and all those terrible things i think it's important to like look up the history to understand how places got to where they are today hello hello just finished up the museum it was so cool to see now i'm walking through i'm not gonna know how to say the name of this park this park it's known as kind of like the central park of mexico city twice as big which i think is incredible it is so stunning and warm and lush and just my heart is so filled right now a lot of that museum was in spanish i think i went in the wrong direction i kind of got a little confused but nonetheless it was really cool to see a lot of like the different artifacts there and learn more about the different civilizations that were in place i'm gonna keep exploring a little bit of my own uh might meet up with ashley for dinner if not take myself out to dinner and yeah have a lovely little time exploring mexico city so hello hello day two people technically day three but didn't vlog the first day worked the first part of today um so if you're coming and you're doing a little work remote mexico city trip there are so many places for you my friend nick just got the city's go to the wedding as well so we're gonna meet up and do some exploring so let's go check out a little bit more of mexico city me we've made it tonight we're out on the town we only have one spanish speaker yeah i speak spanish i took you for seven does anyone know what this is um come on you're a new yorker reporting live oh hello good morning we are on our way to the first event so the wedding weekend we're meeting the rest of the wedding party at um the hotel where everyone's staying and then we're gonna take a little bus to go see some of the pyramids pyramid of the moon and the sun which i think were aztec pyramids which i'm very excited about i love a little history cultural movement when traveling so in this case they invent a very powerful gut quetzalcoatl think about it think about it much to think about what's to process i really just feel like i learned a lot tour guide particularly love nick yeah i feel like it was constantly calling on you because the thing is everyone kept giving the wrong answers and so i think it retained all the right there was a lot of spanish one thing i did remember is a flat top pyramid instead of a triangular pyramid like in egypt for like the veneration of the gods build a temple up there it's not the only thing it's not a tomb it's a temple excuse me senor it is so a packet for this rbv to go move to the hotel we're gonna stay for the night that's where the wedding is i could not decide for the life of me what dress to pick so i packed three dresses so i'll show you guys the options a very fun day i'm so excited i love weddings i love love welcome to our new hotel she's been in my bed okay vlog here's dress number one we got peter on facetime we got ashley in the back we're deciding if this slit is too precarious okay wait i'm like getting way too complicated with this i'm like what if you could like cut like some of like the extra string off the back and then like do like a little bow like across the thigh oh my god that'd be so sick and then there would be like a little gap like not as much again dress number two a little tight in the hips this could be cute with a little up do a low back um my such a short time where are we nicholas we are in the city center we are surviving surviving maybe not crying we're trying to we have the national cathedral an interesting factoid is when they were demolishing the pyramids to build this they recycled it and put it incorporated into the uh church itself wait demolish what theories the para this used to be like the uh aztec oh so like when the spanish yeah so when they basically were demolishing everything they would just go and fill the foundations and that's where the red brick is there gotcha oh mexico city was it mayan or aztecs they basically filled all the lake and tore down the pyramids and you can see like in a bunch of the buildings around here the foundations or like the building itself like that red brick is very specific to mexico city hold on to
